MIPTV 2016: Bestseller docs from Terra Mater Factual Studios

April 2016. More than 100 hours of premium history, science and natural history programming sold to broadcasters in the US, UK, France, Italy, Russia, Australia and China among others.

Particularly in demand was a groundbreaking film on bioluminescence featuring Sir David Attenborough as presenter called “David Attenborough’s Light on Earth”. For this project new camera technology was specially developed to capture the various spectacular ways organisms emit light.

The excellent quality of this – technically, scientifically and creatively – highly innovative film convinced the most prestigious international partners to coproduce this project. The BBC, UKTV, ABC Australia, Curiosity Stream and SVT Sweden came on board.

At MIPTV “David Attenborough’s Light on Earth” was also licensed to Discovery India, CITV China, Thairath TV in Thailand as well as to broadcasters in Poland and Russia.

Italian pubcaster RAI licensed the Terra Mater blue-chip series “Nile – The Ultimate River”. ZDF Neo struck a package deal over 14 hours, 10 hours went to Portugal, 8 to France – and a staggering 60 hours of Terra Mater Factual Studios programs will soon appear on screens in Iran.
