Synopsis

‘Forests in the Flux is an inspiring journey through a threatened but vital habitat. This captivating documentary shows the threats but also hopes facing Austria’s forests today. Climate change, pests and extreme weather events have put the ecological balance at risk. But foresters, ecologists and climate researchers are working to support the trees of the future and protect natural woodland. From the majestic trees of the Bregenz Forest to Rothwald, the country’s last virgin forest, this documentary takes us through all the seasons and reveals the significance of woodland as carbon storage and water reservoir.
